Customer Challenge:

Major European public transport system required an existing turnout to be replaced with a longer lasting composite sleeper solution with proven track history. Passenger trains, with 12.6t axle loads and speeds up to 80 km/h are running over this turnout every 3 – 5 minutes and therefore performance, quality and consistency are a key requirement

Sicut Solution:

Sicut composite sleepers & bearers with 152mm x 254mm/304mm cross section dimensions were used for this project, with lengths up to 5m.  Handling and installation (drilling, cutting and fastening) requirements were the same as those adopted for timber bearers and no additional training was required for installation teams on site; minimising track closure and installation times.
