Customer Challenge:

Replacement of two hardwood turn outs on a European freight railway line. The client was investigating alternatives to traditional wood turnout bearers which required replacement after 15 years.  Cargo trains running at 60 km/h used this line between six-eight times a day, and track closure for regular maintenance was causing delays and additional costs to the client.

Sicut Solution:

Sicut composite bearer dimensions were 152mm x 304mm, with lengths ranging from 2.4m to 5.m were used for this project. Sicut composite sleepers have shown no degradation since the installation and the gauge is within permitted tolerances.
